When your bose quietcomfort ultra earbuds is most likely to develop issues, based on community repair data and manufacturer patterns.

Problems that can appear early, often due to manufacturing defects or initial wear.
The QC Ultra Earbuds use integrated silicone stability fins (part of the ear tip) to secure fit. The thin silicone at the fin base can tear with repeated insertion/removal. The fins are part of proprietary ear tips only available from Bose. Once torn, the fit becomes insecure and ANC seal is compromised.
The metal charging contacts on both the earbuds and inside the case are exposed to moisture from earwax, sweat, and humid environments. Oxidation builds up as a dark residue that increases resistance, leading to slow or failed charging. The case contacts are recessed and difficult to clean thoroughly.
The QC Ultra Earbuds use Immersive Audio processing which is computationally demanding and drains the battery faster. Rated at 6 hours, heavy users of Immersive Audio see closer to 4 hours initially. After 12-18 months of daily use, runtime can drop to 2-3 hours. The batteries are non-replaceable; Bose offers trade-in discounts rather than repair.
